Post Pics: PK paint job and grip tape customization
Finished my first round of customizing my PK. I have some additional items coming in the mail....so more later.

For now, the two major changes are grip-tape and a paint job.

Overall view including suppressor. It is a 5.56 Gemtech suppressor, but it works well. The extra size makes it whisper quiet.

Here is an up-close of the grip tape and paint job. I wanted to get a better grip on the front of the weapon, but of course you can't modify it without all the proper checks and $200 tax....so grip tape will have to do. It works pretty darn well for movement whilst shooting. With grip the tape your front grip is rock solid. Send me an email if you want a PDF of the grip tape stencil.

Earlier I left the area.... came back and found my Dog was enjoying the new acquisition......zzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Nice job with the mod. It looks good and funny pic with the dog. Where did you buy the grip tape?

Thanks. Go to your local skateboard shop and ask for a sheet of deck grip for a skateboard. They come in a big sheet and have really strong adhesive... yet you can still remove it from the plastic without damaging anything.

Here is the stencil. You can print this out on standard label paper and then stick it to the back of the sheet of skateboard grip.

Don't use scissors, it doesn't work well and you will probably ruin the scizzors before the job is done. A razor knife (Box cutter) works great.

Thanks for the info on where to get the grip tape. I have the GSG-5P, so I this will be very easy to measure and cut to size. I will go purchase the grip tape and try this mod. Again nice job.

With the tape I found it best to work with a piece of paper and get it to exact size FIRST. It helps keep your lines straight and such.

One of those larger post-it notes works great since you can then "stick" it to the rifle and see if the size works for where you grip. IT also helps for complicated patterns like I have on my GLOCK:

Ended up with the perfect shape in the thumb depresson that looks great and works well.

I put that grip tape on my carry weapon OVER a year ago and no real signs of wear even with daily carry AND shooting. Note that there are no points, everything has rounded edges. Points are where the tape will snag and catch on everything from your shirt to foam in the case. Rounded edges avoids that.

Good luck, I sure it will turn out great. Don't forget to post pictures.

Went to Dick's Sporting Goods and bought some grip tape. Take a piece of paper and cut it to fit and then cut the piece of grip tape. Then installed it on the handguard. The gun feels rock steady in your hand with the grip tape.
